ELLINWOOD, Kan., July 20 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On Sunday, August 22, 2010 at 2:00 P.M., Star of Hope invites the community to a special Gospel, Jazz and Blues celebration at Community Christian Church on the Country Club Plaza, 4601 Main Street, Kansas City, Missouri. Produced by Musication, the 90-minute musical celebration will feature singer, Melanie Ryan; international award winning French dancer/choreographer and singer, Louis Bar & Company; and High Vibe featuring Max Berry, Denny Osburn and "Michael O" Oshiver. Representatives from Star of Hope Haiti will give firsthand accounts of the current relief efforts. Donations will be accepted.

The island country of Haiti suffered what is described as apocalyptic destruction on Jan. 12. As the 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck, thousands of buildings crumpled and collapsed, trapping tens of thousands of men, women and children beneath heavy concrete slabs. The death toll in the capital city was staggering. In the rural communities where Star of Hope works; schools, churches, and homes were destroyed or severely damaged.

Star of Hope is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization with thirteen projects in Haiti that benefit more than 6,000 children who were affected by the destruction. The mission of Star of Hope is to carry out Christian and humanitarian programs, principally involving the care, up-bringing and education of children and youth.
